DRUG TESTING INVASION OF PRIVACY

I am an 18-year-old Year 12 student at an eastern suburbs drug-testing-free
private school. I was horrified at Duncan McInnes's patronising comments
(Herald, August 23): "The elders of the tribe have the experience and wisdom".

If he was so wise, first, he would realise school drug testing is an
invasion of a student's basic civil rights to privacy.

Second, he would consider the precedent he is setting and the floodgate of
problems that would be opened with any form of urine or blood testing.

A school's role is to educate the youth of Australia and not police us.
