CANNABIS SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO THE SICK

In response to your article of Tuesday, August 1 about the Ontario Court of
Appeal giving the provincial parliament a year to amend the law to allow
medicinal use of marijuana, it appears that more and more countries around
the world are beginning to rediscover the cannabis plant and its medicinal
properties.

The cannabis plant can relieve the nausea associated with cancer
chemotherapy, can relieve the spasms related with multiple sclerosis and
help with many other medical problems such as general back pain and depression.

I think it is draconian that our government still imprisons people for
using this plant which is less dangerous than other existing legal drugs.

It is about time we entered the 21st century and allowed sick and dying
people access to a herb that helps them.
