TEST PREMIER AND MPPS

Re Welfare drug test plan sets off storm, Nov. 14.

After first reading the article on the proposed drug test plan for welfare
recipients, I reached the article concerning the proposed 42 per cent raise
for MPPs. In the latter article, Premier Mike Harris was quoted as saying,
"Even at 40 per cent, I think (the pay raise is) less than OPSEU, less than
teachers, less than we've given our own employees."

The quote is such nonsense that I think it should be mandatory for MPPs and
premiers to take drug tests before and during their term of office. Even to
compare a full-time job like teaching with the Premier's part-time job is
ill-conceived.
