To the Editor of The Knoxville News-Sentinel:

I'm writing about the thoughtful letter from Virginia M. Jones:
"STATE SENATORS SHOULD BE TESTED" (12-24-11). I suggest that in
addition to drug
testing all politicians you should make all politicians subject to full
body searches, including
their body cavities.

That's what they do at all jails and prisons. And we all know how
completely drug-free
all jails and prisons are.

Obviously only drug users and sellers will object.

Re: "MARIJUANA STILL ILLEGAL, AND WE'RE STILL STUPID" Dec 27th

http://www.news-press.com/article/20111227/OPINION/312270017/Marijuana

Mr Koehler understates the destructiveness of marijuana prohibition. The
worst is the mandatory minimum sentences that Congress and most state
legislatures specify for drug offenses. They have filled our Prisons.
They also all a prosecutor to threaten low-level arrestees with a
mandatory sentence unless they'll finger a friend, or go undercover.
That's how Rachel Hoffman got herself killed near Tallahassee three
years ago. If marijuana had been decriminalized, she could not have been
threatened with a felony.

To the Editor of The Lincoln Journal Star:

I'm writing about Susie Dugan's not-so-thoughtful letter:
"Don't legalize marijuana" (12-29-11). Dugan didn't mention
why she she wants marijuana to remain completely unregulated,
untaxed and controlled by criminal gangs.

As far as legalization increasing usage, in the Netherlands marijuana
has been quasi legal for about four decades, yet they use marijuana
at about half the rate American's do. Why? (See the web site
www.drugwarfacts.org).
